Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Australian Computer Society, the peak body for professionals in the ICT sector in Australia .

Please select one of the links below if you wish to complete your application on-line (NB Membership application forms are also available as downloads in either zipped Microsoft Word format or Acrobat (.pdf) format.)

There are three categories of application available to you:

If you are currently studying an Australian Qualification in ICT, use the

Student Application

If you have recently completed an Australian Qualification in ICT and that is your sole ICT qualification,  use the

Graduate Application

All other applicants, including those with multiple ICT qualification, should use the

Standard Application

Your application will be graded according to qualifications and experience. You have up to six (6) weeks from the date of your application acknowledgement email to provide the ACS with documents supporting the qualifications and experience claimed in your application. If at the end of the six weeks period some documentation remains outstanding your ACS membership grade will be assessed then, based on whatever supporting documentation you have provided.

If your formal qualifications are not in ICT you may be eligible for Companion member and should complete the Standard Application.

If you are a Senior Manager in the ICT sector within Australia and are an Australian citizen or permanent resident please see the Senior Manager Guidelines.

BEFORE YOU APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP PLEASE NOTE:

Non-student membership is based on a combination of ICT qualifications and relevant experience or on Demonstrated Equivalence (not available for Overseas applicants).

Student membership is only applicable to those students studying ICT at an Australian University or at an ACS accredited course at an overseas campus of an Australian university or at a Registered Training Organisation within Australia

Applicants with formal ICT qualifications  who are Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents of Australia will be required to provide proof of satisfactory completion (a copy of their Academic Transcript OR Testamur OR Letter of completion) in support of their application unless the qualification was not attained through an ACS accredited course in which case both a Transcript AND Testamur is required.

Applicants who are not Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents of Australia will be required to provide a copy of their academic transcript AND testamur in support of their application. These must be either original documents or certified copies of original documents. Copies must be certified by a Public Notary or equivalent.

Applicants with industry certification qualifications will be required to provide proof of their qualification.

Any document that is not in English must be accompanied by a certified translation.

All documents used to support an application will be retained by the ACS .

Demonstrated Equivalence requires applicants for MACS (Member) who do not have a professional level qualification to apply to have their application processed based on recognition of the totality of their activity in the workplace and on education and on professional development. See Guidelines For Membership for further information

For Australian citizens and permanent residents of Australia, two non-members or one Professional grade ACS Member will be required to endorse relevant post qualification professional experience (two years for Associate or four years for Member) for those applying for non-student membership. In the relevant section of the application you will need to provide the names and contact details of your supporters.

For overseas applicants (non-Australian citizens and non-permanent residents of Australia ) at least two persons must provide written Statements of Support, which must be on corporate letterhead and which must endorse your claimed post-qualification professional experience.

Only full time involvement in appropriate ICT activities will be considered. The ACS must be satisfied that your experience is of a suitable quality as well as being in a suitable job classification.

Supporters nominated will be emailed to confirm the information you provide and possibly to answer questions in support of your application. Please ensure you have notified these people and they are willing to be a supporter of your application.

A reference number will be provided to you once your application has been submitted and should be included with any relevant documentation forwarded to Member Services to facilitate the application process, including payment if not paying by credit card.

Total Fee consists of an annual Membership Fee and a once off Application Administration and Processing Fee. Both components of the total fee are non-refundable, however if for some reason the application does not proceed or ACS membership is not granted, the membership fee only may be refunded. Membership applications will not be addressed until the Total Fee payment has been processed or a periodic payment authority has been lodged with the ACS.
